THE NEW THEATRE PRESENTS
by Randal Myler and Mark Harelik
Produced by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing.
You’ll enjoy this show because:
By the time Hank Williams turned twenty-five, he was a superstar. Four years later, the music world would lose this extraordinary talent at a very young age. Within those four years, Hank revolutionized the music industry (winner of a Pulitzer Prize and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award) The joy, the humor and the music of this amazing talent is brilliantly captured in LOST HIGHWAY. To make sure Kansas City audiences see the same phenomenal show that took New York by storm, New Theatre is bringing in the critically acclaimed writer/director who created the New York production. If you didn’t get to see LOST HIGHWAY in New York, this is your chance to see what thrilled the Broadway critics.
From the hills of rural southern Alabama to the stage of the Grand Ole Opry, LOST HIGHWAY follows Williams’ rise from humble beginnings to superstardom. This unforgettable play, peppered with jokes, stories, insights and bits of gossip from his actual life will remind you of what Williams did best: casting the simple spell of his yearning songs on
adoring fans. You’ll hear more than 20 including: “I’m so Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Jambalaya,” “Hey, Good Lookin’,” and “Your Cheating Heart.”
“The best example of a musician’s bio put on stage that I’ve ever seen. Wonderful…delightful…marvelous.”
“Smart, heart-warming and funny, this is a musical gem. Don’t miss it!” – NY TIMES
Steve Anthony* (Hoss) is delighted to be making his NTR debut, reprising the role he originated in the New York production of HANK WILLIAMS: LOST HIGHWAY in 2002-2003. Most recently, Steve performed as Hoss and served as Musical Director in the critically acclaimed Miami production of LOST HIGHWAY. Steve would like to dedicate this performance to his luminous wife, Ann Kelly Anthony, and to their beloved (if occasionally naughty) kitties, Wizzie and Rakki.
